It feels so great that the Indian women’s team has qualified for the Hockey World League Round 2 finals after beating Belarus by 4–0 in the semifinals. Now, India will play against Chile in the next match. Chile has defeated Uruguay in the second semifinals by 2–1. After this semifinal win, team India has ensured a berth to participate in the Women’s Hockey World League Semi-Final, which will take place in June or July. It also leads India to participate in the FIH Women’s World Cup 2018.
India was assertive on the right side from the beginning. Even if in the 4th and the 9th minutes, Belarus had succeeded in 2 primary penalty corners, the defense by team Indian was remarkable as they repulsed an early lead to their challengers. In the 13th minute, India was swift to achieve its foremost penalty corner. It was the spectacular goal made by Gurjit Kaur that gave India a lead by 1-0 in the first quarter.
In the 20th minute, India took a lead by 2–0 via skipper Rani, who fruitfully transformed a penalty stroke. In the third quarter, both the teams dealt with penalty corners with one success by India in the 33rd minute. On the contrary, a penalty corner was won by Belarus in the 40th minute; however, the goalkeeper of India, Savita, saved the goal strike by Yuliya Mikheichyk.
The Indian women’s team played an expeditious hockey, breaking into the opponent striking circle frequently. A solo attempt was made by Rani and she gained a dazzling field goal that leads India in the 40th minute by 3-0. In the 42nd minute, Belarus were granted a penalty, however, their try failed as Savita yet again stopped them and assured that her side continues to lead. Desperate attempts were made by Belarus to come back in the game. In the 49th minute, the game started with a penalty corner that was yet again stopped by Savita. In the 58th minute, the impressive penalty stroke by Gurjit Kaur led India to a score of 4–0 and the match was sealed.
