Amla’s ton in vain as MI chases 199 with 27 balls to spare

Like other festivals, Indian Premier League has a huge significance in India. It is almost equivalent to a festival in India. The tenth season of the IPL started with a blast. The 22nd match of the IPL, Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians, was a thrilling one.

Coming to bat first, the Punjabis made their intentions very clear from the beginning. Hashim Amla and Shaun Marsh gave a firm grip to the team for the initial 5 overs. The first shock to the Kings XI Punjab was in form of the wicket of Shaun Marsh (26 of 21 balls). McClenaghan was the one who achieved Marsh’s wicket. But Amla was clear as to what he needs to achieve. He kept knocking from one end. On the other hand, Wriddhiman Saha left early (11 of 15 balls) making a way for Glenn Maxwell on the pitch. The Amla–Maxwell duo gave a terrific score to the Mumbai Indians. Maxell knocked off a whopping 40 runs in just 18 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Amla’s made his century by knocking off 104* in just 60 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes. Mitchell McClenaghan grabbed 2 wickets while Krunal Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah managed to grab only one wicket. Punjab managed to give a whopping score of 198 to Mumbai Indian.

While the target seemed to be impossible, Mumbai Indians showed their capability by achieving the target in 15.3 overs keeping 27 balls spare. Parthiv Patel (37 of 18 balls), Jos Buttler (77 of 37 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes), and Nitish Rana (32 off 34 balls with 7 sixes) were the key players that are accountable for the big chase of Mumbai Indians. Mohit Sharma and Marcus Stoinis each managed to grab only one wicket.

Well, the Mumbai Indians showed their value and strength with this big win and grabbed the top position in the table with 10 points in their bag. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab slipped down to 6th position with just 4 points. Let us see if Mumbai Indians are able to maintain the top position or not.
