BCCI refuses to give discount on clips for Sachin’s film

It has been a year now for the release of the movie based on the life of the former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. “MS Dhoni—An untold story” hit the big screen last year and it was a hit. Similar to what Dhoni does on the field, the movie too did the same job on the big screen. And now, it is time for another biopic to be released worldwide. Sachin: A Billion Dreams” is the upcoming movie that will be releasing all over the world on May 26, 2017. The movie will be based on the life of that person who is considered to be the God of the religion named cricket.

BCCI refuses to give discount on clips for Sachin’s film

Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) has refused a request from the producers of the film, 200 Not Out,who are looking for a discount on a video clip to be included in the movie. The clip involves footage of Sachin Tendulkar’s batting and other important scenarios of his career. Even though BCCI has agreed to offer Sachin’s popular farewell speech at the Wankhede stadium, which is 3 min and 50 secs long, free of cost, it will not be giving any discounts on the remaining videos.

BCCI said that no discounts were given at the time of “MS Dhoni—An untold story”. So how can we give discounts for Sachin’s film when we did not offer it for Dhoni’s? Well, that is a valid point made by the officials. As per the sources, BCCI has a rate card for such type of video clips. The rate depends on the importance of match. Rs 1 Crore was paid for the video clips that were used in the production of “MS Dhoni—An untold story”.

In addition, BCCI also stated that Sachin’s film will be released on a commercial scale in theatres. The trailer had already crossed 1 Million views on YouTube. This indicates as to how much business the film will be making in the future.

In the meantime, the founder of 200 Not Out and producer of the film Ravi Bhagchandka, claimed that the negotiation with the BCCI is still in progress.

Let us hope for the best.
