Former Kentucky Wildcats forward Julius Randle just finished his workout with the Los Angeles Lakers, and it went better than expected:

Randle even notched a better vertical jump than fellow NBA Draft prospect Noah Vonleh:

Randle’s 38-inch vertical jump (with steps) was higher than Vonleh was 37.5.

Playing with Lakers star Kobe Bryant is something Randle has already said he’d love to do in the NBA.

“He was my favorite player. I loved Kobe’s persona and swagger and how he played,” Randle said. “He was someone I always looked up to at a young age.

“It would be extremely fun. I could learn a lot from him and talk to one of the greatest, if not the greatest player of all time. There’s a lot I could learn from and pick his brain in just how to get better and dealing with adversity.”

The Lakers hold the seventh-overall pick in this year’s draft, and it’s beginning to look more and more likely he won’t fall past them.

Regarded as a Top-5 pick for the majority of the season, Randle averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while picking up a number of awards, including SEC Freshman of the Year, while also being selected First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman.

When the NBA Draft commences in June, Randle should hear his name called fairly quickly. He’s projected to go in the top 5, and could go as high as forth to the Orlando Magic.
