The NBA Summer League is almost over, and several former Kentucky Wildcats had great showings for their teams. The one with the biggest spotlight on him was Los Angeles Lakers forward Julius Randle.
Friday afternoon’s 83-77 win over Denver improved ,ay have been randle’s best game. After struggling through the first three quarters, it was Randle that carried the team to victory. Randle was 0 for 7 from the field in the first three quarters, but hit 5 of 7 shots in the fourth to carry L.A. home.
Pro Basketball Talk reviewed all of the top rookies who played in the Summer League, and here’s their assessment of Randle:
It was a little hard to read his performance — he signed 20 minutes before his first Summer League game and went out there having not played 5-on-5 with this teammates. Randle can score in the post with a variety of moves, but he shot just 41.9 percent for Summer League, plus he never grabbed more than five rebounds. He showed potential but he’s a rookie with a lot of work to do.
It was a tough spot Randle was put in, but there were still moments where we saw that raging bull he showed he could be at UK. Even as a rookie, Randle is goign to be a load to handle in the paint.
