Report: Rajon Rondo wants to leave Boston Celtics

| August 31, 2014 | 1 Comment

The Boston Celtics are in rebuilding mode, and Rajon Rondo doesn’t want to be a part of it.

Jackie MacMullan of ESPN said Rondo “has told them he wants out,” appearing on an Around the Horn behind the scenes video that was posted earlier this week.

To recap, MacMullan spent more than two decades at the Boston Globe, while also writing this amazing  story on Rondo and his torn ACL in January 2013. If she’s saying this, then it’s probably legit.

Earlier this offseason, ESPN Insider Amin Elhassan reported that Rondo’s chances of remaining with Boston through 2015 are ‘nonexistent’, and even said Rondo hopes to be sent to another team. There was various rumors that the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings planned to come after Rondo, and the Kings actually offered up a trade package for him.

It’s beginning to look like a matter of when, not if the Celtics decide to trade the All-Star point guard. The former Kentucky Wildcats slasher has grown tired of Boston’s rebuilding project, and the Celtics are also preparing for life without him.
