North Carolina commit Kennedy Meeks attempted to conduct an interview with the Harrison Twins while at the McDonald’s All-American Game, but it quickly evolved into a smack talking contest.
It all started when Andrew Harrison turned the table on the interview by asking Meeks, “how bad will we win on December 14?”
Meeks responded by saying that Kentucky would go 39-1 next season, with the sole loss occurring on December 14 against his Tarheels.
The Twins shifted their attention to Duke commit Matt Jones when he walked by and asked him why his team was going to 17-17 next season. Jones responded by asking what Kentucky had done lately, but was silenced after Aaron pointed out that Kentucky was the defending national champion.
Meeks next turned the mic over to Julius Randle and Marcus Lee, asking them what they think about next year’s regular season matchup with North Carolina.
“I honestly think we’re going to blow y’all out by 70,” Lee replied before Randle raised the stakes by simply stating “80.”
Dakari Johnson finished things off by jumping in and stating that he was excited to play North Carolina next year, but “unfortunately Kennedy Meeks will be redshirting next year,” implying that there’s no point in him playing with Kentucky being such a dominant team.
Obviously the smack talking was all in good fun, and Kennedy Meeks proved to be a great sport.
With that said, it’s already apparent that this year’s recruiting class will bring a swagger to next year’s team that was sorely missed this past season, especially after the season-ending injury to Nerlens Noel.
